3rd Year VFX Project

Brief: Create a short VFX sequence in Unreal Engine.

I created all of the VFX from scratch using the Niagara particle system using visual references from popular media sources. The character models and animations are from Mixamo and the sounds are from various Creative Commons sources.

The most difficult VFX shot to make was the explosion which required several smaller VFX systems within it. Iteratively comparing to references and getting feedback from other students really helped to improve it and other VFX throughout the module.

I made a storyboard to help visualise and plan out sequences, then made a basic animatic from that. Listing basic notes and timings helped greatly later during the project as a reference to what I needed to work on.
